As the 2021-22 school year quickly approaches, school supplies are in high demand. But for some families, re-purchasing supplies each year is a financial struggle.
Communities In Schools of Henry County seeks to alleviate the struggle with the 10th annual backpack giveaway, which will be held July 24 from 9 a.m. to to 12 p.m. at McDonough High School, according to a Facebook post Monday from the Board of Education. The giveaway event will be held in a drive-thru format and will include community resources, Kona Ice, lunch packs and barbecue plates available for charitable purchase.
According to the post, the event is in partnership with Alpha Phi Alpha, the first African-American intercollegiate Greek lettered fraternity.
Children who receive backpacks must be present and proof of Henry County residency is required, the post states.
