Griffin-Spalding County Schools will welcome three new faces to the district this school year.
The appointments were made during a Thursday called board of education meeting, in which Dexter Sands was named Spalding High School principal, Michael Mathis as Orrs Elementary principal and Cynthia Jewell as executive officer of elementary education.
The appointments were made based on the recommendation of Superintendent Keith L. Simmons and confirmed with a unanimous vote by the school board.
Dexter Sands is currently an assistant principal at Spalding High School, according to the district’s website. Cynthia Jewell currently serves as senior director of school support in Henry County Schools, according to Jewell’s Twitter. She formerly served as principal of Stockbridge Elementary School in the district.
Information regarding Michael Mathis’ current position was not immediately available.
