Former Fulton County Schools board member to serve as Georgia School Board Association development specialist

Julia Bernath, former president of the Fulton County Board of Education, is stepping into the Board Development Specialist role for the Georgia School Boards Association. Bernath announced her new position in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

“I am excited to share that I’m starting a new position as Board Development Specialist with the Georgia School Boards Association,” said Bernath in the Facebook post. “I look forward to assisting Board-Superintendent governance teams across the state.”

Bernath has served on the Fulton County Board of Education for over 20 years. Representing District 7, she served as the school board president from 2007 to 2009 and vice president from 2009 to 2010. She also served on the Fulton County Schools Employee Pension Plan Board and the Fulton Education Foundation’s Board of Directors. 

Additionally, Bernath is a graduate of Leadership GBSA and several other leadership programs. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Chapter of the American Cancer Society and the Sandy Springs Education Force.
