The Clayton County Board of Education announced Dr. Anthony W. Smith as Superintendent of Clayton County Public Schools.
The Clayton County Board of Education announced Dr. Anthony W. Smith as Superintendent of Clayton County Public Schools. Smith served as the interim superintendent in December 2022 after former leader Morcease J. Beasley left with six months on his contract.
Dr. Smith has a long history in Clayton County schools, starting as a Computer Technology teacher and moving into an assistant principal, principal, Chief Academic Officer, Assistant Superintendent, and Deputy Superintendent.
Later this fall, Dr. Smith will present the “Blueprint Series Tour” to connect with stakeholders about the future of education within Clayton County. The three dates are scheduled at Mundy’s Mill High School, Morrow High School, and Drew High School.
Dr. Smith’s tenure began on July 1, 2023, and will run through June 30, 2025.
