Jay Litherland, a 2014 Chattahoochee High School graduate, earned a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Sunday.

Litherland received a silver medal in the Men’s 400-meter individual medley, finishing with a time of 4 minutes and 10.28 seconds. Litherland was behind for most of the race but was able to complete an extreme comeback to finish in second.

Litherland was also the first Asian American medal winner during the Tokyo Olympics, according to Yahoo News

After his stint at Chattahoochee High School, Litherland went to the University of Georgia (UGA), along with Chase Kalisz. Kalisz won gold in the same race, which means that both silver and gold medals went to UGA alumni.

Litherland has qualified for the Olympics both in 2016 and this year.
