Just one day after presenting the sole candidate for the principal of Midtown Elementary, Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Lisa Herring reversed the hiring decision. On Wednesday the school district announced Kari Schrock as the new principal which is slated to be open in Fall 2023. Schrock’s last principalship came from Laurel Ridge Elementary School in Dekalb County Schools.
Atlanta Public Schools sent this statement.
“Atlanta Public Schools has rescinded the recommendation of a candidate for the position of principal of the new elementary school fo the Midtown cluster, which will open in August 2023. The decision was made in the spirit of the district’s mutual goal with the community to maintain a focus on establishing a successful school. APS will move with great intentionality to vet a new finalist focusing closely on school design and community engagement.”
