Effective September 30, 2023, the Art Institute of Atlanta will permanently close its doors to students and staff.

Effective September 30, 2023, the Art Institute of Atlanta will permanently close its doors to students and staff. According to 11 Alive, the institution attributed the closure to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The second quarter was scheduled to start October 1, 2023. There is no word about those students scheduled to graduate in December or what current students are to do about their current classes.

Students who need to request their transcripts will be mailed five official copies at no cost to the students on or after October 1, 2023. The institute is working with other partner schools for students to transfer.

On the website, students were given additional information about obtaining copies of their diplomas, tax information, and contacts with the Department of Education.

This closure also applies to other Art Institutes campuses such as:

  • Miami International University of Art & Design 
  • The Art Institute of Atlanta
  • The Art Institute of Austin, a branch of The Art Institute of Houston 
  • The Art Institute of Dallas, a branch of Miami International University of Art & Design
  • The Art Institute of Houston
  • The Art Institute of San Antonio, a branch of The Art Institute of Houston  
  • The Art Institute of Tampa, a branch of Miami International University of Art & Design
  • The Art Institute of Virginia Beach, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta

The second quarter was scheduled to start October 2, 2023.
