At its regularly scheduled business meeting on December 15, 2022, the Gwinnett County Board of Education approved the appointment of a new Chief Financial Officer, Executive Director of Leadership Development, and principal at Shiloh Elementary School.
Masana L. Mailliard, the new chief financial officer, comes to Gwinnett County Schools from Dekalb County Schools, where she worked as the deputy chief financial officer, budget manager, and assistant director of audits,long with experience in Flordia in a variety of financial roles.
Mailliard earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix and will replace retiring chief financial officer, Je Heffron.
Dr. Chandra Y. Walker,the new executive director of leadership development, has been with Gwinnett County Schools since 2003 with experience as a school counselor, assistant principal, and most recently a principal of Simonton elementary school. Previous to her time in GCPS, she worked in Marietta city schools and Atlanta public schools as a counselor.
Dr. Walker earned her doctoral degree from Clark Atlanta University and will replace outgoing Kendra Washington Bates, who previously served in this role.
Dr. Walker is a member of GCPS Leadership Academy.
Jennifer L. Mercedes, Shiloh Elementary School:
Jennifer L. Mercedes is the new principal at Shiloh elementary school and has leadership experience as an assistant principal and teacher in GCPS. Previously to working in the district she was an assistant director at an international school. She has a Master’s degree from the University of Georgia.
Ms. Mercedes is a member of GCPS Leadership Academy.
