Atlanta Public Schools (APS) Superintendent, Dr. Lisa Herring, presented the revised 2021-2022 bell schedule for the upcoming school year on Monday, June 7th.
The bell schedule for APS will run as follows: 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. for elementary school, 9:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. for middle school, and 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. for high school as shown on the APS website. The revised bell schedule is a part of APS’s three-year Academic Recovery Plan, and the bell schedule will “accommodate for additional student learning time,” as mentioned on the APS website.
APS also had input from parents, students, staff and community members through a survey regarding the bell schedule. APS released the survey results on their website showing the percentages in which people voted for the schedule, and out of 6,240 responses, 4,542 (72.79%) were in favor of the proposal. However it must be noted that the survey only gave two options for the people to vote for.
