Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) congratulated the Singing Brothers of Stilwell on Facebook Tuesday, for being chosen to perform at the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) 2022 Southern Region Conference.
Out of 70 choirs, the Stilwell choral group was only one out of three Georgia choral groups that were chosen to perform at the conference.
“Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) salutes the Singing Brothers of Stilwell, an extra-curricular choral group at Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts, who were selected from a review of over 70 choirs to perform at the American Choral Directors Association 2022 Southern Region Conference in Raleigh, North Carolina,” said the Facebook post.
“Only three choral groups will represent the State of Georgia: the University Singers from Georgia State University, Orpheus Men’s Ensemble (a group of professional choral directors), and the Singing Brothers of Stilwell.”
Out of the three groups chosen from Georgia, Stilwell is the only high-school group.
The ACDA also has a rather rich history itself, being founded in 1959 to both serve the needs of choir directors and to showcase excellence in choral music through the various activities the association hosts, as mentioned on the ACDA website.
The conference dates will be February 23-26, 2022.
