Starting in the 2021-2022 school year all Atlanta Public Schools students will return to five days of in-person instruction each week. While a virtual option will remain, teachers will no longer be expected to teach simultaneously or have asynchronous Wednesdays.
According to the Superintendent’s blog, Herring continued, “We don’t intend to have asynchronous Wednesdays and no simultaneous teaching. We will provide virtual engagement as an option for the fall. “
This announcement came as the school district attempts to vaccinate 1,600 employees at the Mercedes Benz Stadium. Unlike this year, teachers will not have asynchronous instruction on Wednesdays as they’ve had this year. While virtual instruction will not fully go away, teachers will not be expected to teach simultaneously.
More details are expected to be discussed on the April 12 Board of Education meeting which is streamed on the Board Facebook page.
