The polls in Fulton County have closed, and while some winners, there are some board of education seats that will go into run-off elections.

The polls in Fulton County have closed, and while some winners, there are some board of education seats that will go into run-off elections.

Here are some of the highlights from Tuesday’s races.

Decatur City Schools

City of Decatur teacher Tracey Anderson-  won against newcomer India Phipps Epps with 52.71% of the vote for the City of Decatur, District 2, Post B seat.

James H. Herndon ran unopposed and received 100% of the votes for the District 1, Post B seat.

Atlanta Board of Education

Katie P. Howard ran unopposed for the Atlanta Board of Education seat for District 1 and received 100% of the votes.

Ken Zeff beat incumbent Michelle Olympiadis, with 65.99% of the vote for the Atlanta Board of Education seat for District 3

Erika Yvette Mitchell, the incumbent for Atlanta Board of Education, District 5, beat Raynard Johnson with 70.03% of the vote.

Incumbent Tamara Jones received 49.14% of the vote, and challengers Alfred “Shivy” Brooks got 46.21% of the vote, and William Sardin got 4.65%. Since no candidate received over 50% of the vote, Jones and Brooks will go into a run-off for the Atlanta Board of Education At Large Seat for District 7.

Jessica Johnson beat newcomer Nkoyo Effiong Lewis with 54.70% of the vote for the Atlanta Board of Education At-Large seat for District 9.

Race results aren’t official until approved by the Georgia Secretary of States Office.
