In a press release released this week, Clark Atlanta University (CAU) announced the relaunch of its Music Education major—nineteen years after the initial hiatus. The major will offer a curriculum that combines theory and practice while honoring the department’s thirty-year legacy.
The revival of this major will focus on equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and passion to excel as music educators.
“Music is a universal language that transcends time, strengthens bonds and inspires greatness.” said Phil Davis, CAU’s newly named Chair of the Music Department.
In addition to a focus on diverse music traditions and pedagogical approaches, students at Clark Atlanta University will have access to well-equipped facilities, world-class faculty mentors, and immersive learning experiences that will prepare them for success in today’s dynamic educational landscape.
“The belief at Clark Atlanta University is that every student deserves the opportunity to explore their musical talents and pursue their passions,” said Charlene Gilbert, Clark Atlanta University’s Provost. “The relaunch of the Music Education major underscores the University’s commitment to providing inclusive and innovative educational opportunities that empower students through music to achieve their dreams and make a positive impact in the world.”
